 PSYCHOEDUCATIONAL ASSESSMENTS FOR LEARNING DISABILITY IDENTIFICATION

According to the DSM-5, a Specific Learning Disorder (learning disability) is characterized by persistent challenges in learning and applying academic skills. At Constellation Psychology, we specialize in psychoeducational assessments that help identify these challenges in children, teens, and adultsOur comprehensive evaluations assess key areas such as reading, writing, mathematics, and executive functioning, offering a clear roadmap for personalized educational planning and support. A learning disability is indicated by the presence of at least one of the following symptoms that have persisted for at least six months, despite the provision of interventions that target those difficulties:

Inaccurate or slow and effortful word reading (decoding)

Difficulty with spelling
Difficulty understanding the meaning of what is read (reading comprehension)

Difficulty with written expression

Difficulty with reading rate or fluency

Difficulty mastering number sense, number facts, calculation, or math reasoning

TYPES OF LEARNING DISABILITIES

Here are some common learning disabilities that children suffer from:

Dyslexia

Dyslexia is an alternative term used to refer to a pattern of learning difficulties characterized by problems with accurate or fluent word recognition, poor decoding, and poor spelling abilities.

Dysgraphia

Dysgraphia is a term used to describe a pattern of learning difficulties characterized by challenges with handwriting, including issues with legibility, letter formation, spacing, and fine motor skills. It may also involve difficulties with spelling and translating thoughts into written language.

Dyscalculia

Dyscalculia is an alternative term used to refer to a pattern of difficulties characterized by problems processing numerical information, learning arithmetic facts, and performing accurate or fluent calculations.

ASSESSMENTS

We complete comprehensive learning disability assessments at a flat rate of $2,760.00. 


A typical assessment begins with an initial online intake appointment, during which background information is gathered, assessment process is planned, and consent is reviewed. Subsequent appointments include taking an intelligence test, achievement test, measures of memory, attention, executive functioning, and adaptive functioning.


A thorough report is provided within two to three weeks of completion of testing, with results discussed at a final feedback meeting.
